November is American Diabetes Month®

November marks American Diabetes Month®, a time when the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) calls on the nation and the world to unite in the fight to end diabetes.

Today, more than 38 million Americans live with diabetes, and nearly 98 million have prediabetes. Over the past 20 years, the number of diagnosed cases has more than doubled.

For many, a new diagnosis can bring shock, financial stress, and concerns about how life will change. That’s why the ADA offers resources to support people at every stage, ranging from nutrition and diabetes education to mental health support, as well as guidance on the latest treatments and technologies.

A Message of Hope and Determination

“While the statistics are stark, this American Diabetes Month we’re reminded that behind every number is a person, likely someone you know or love, with their own story,” said Charles “Chuck” Henderson, chief executive officer of the ADA.
“It’s a friend struggling to afford insulin, a child using an insulin pump for the first time, or a neighbor learning that diabetes is causing their blurred vision. At the American Diabetes Association, we’re fighting for a cure for all of them.”

The ADA’s Vision

The ADA’s vision is simple yet powerful: a life free of diabetes and all its burdens.
Through advocacy, education, research, and innovation, the ADA is working to:
